October 2025
Here’s a snippet from our October newsletter. Head here to read the full report.
We can hardly believe that the Fostering Families Resource Center is officially ONE year old! It was July 2024 when we first began serving families and the Lord has done so much since then. Just a few highlights from the last year we want to celebrate with you:
We served families from 9 different counties (mainly Forsyth, Stokes and Surry) and provided services over 300 times.
We developed relationships with 7 local churches who provided financial support, volunteer hours, and generous donation of new clothing, bedding and duffel bags.
We continued to develop our working relationship with Love Out Loud. They continue to be a valuable partner for us by providing service and support as well as advice and counsel as we have grown.
We developed a new partnership with Crossnore Communities for Children which resulted in us moving into an amazing space on their Winston-Salem campus!
We discovered the great need of supporting those working in the Foster Care/DSSsystem and continue to find new ways to support and encourage them.
A note from Greta on the work of the FFRC the past few months:
In just a few short months, we’ve hosted two beautiful events that reflect the heart of our work. Our first annual Back-to-School Open House and Shopping Event was a joyful success - though I’ll admit, I felt like a teenager throwing a party wondering if anyone would show up! Thankfully, families came, children laughed, and we celebrated with cotton candy, a bounce house, and games that brought smiles to every corner.
We also welcomed 10 middle school girls for a summer service camp, where we spent the morning serving at Salem Pregnancy Care Center and an afternoon organizing at FFRC. Together, we explored the power of collaboration and the importance of working together - not just in the nonprofit world, but in every part of life.
Now, as we prepare for our Fall Festival on October 12, I’m reminded of a powerful truth: none of us can solve the challenges in our child welfare system alone, but everyone can do something. And when we come together, we begin to chip away at the problem of “never enough.”
We are deeply grateful to Crossnore for providing our beautiful festival space, to Love Out Loud for being our fiscal sponsor and trusted advisor, and to churches like Two Cities, Holy Family, St Leo’s, Center Grove and United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, as well as organizations like Foster Family Alliance, for standing beside us in this work.
Together, we are building something sacred - a community of hope, action, and love.
